The Most Important Thing You’ll Read in Quarantine
This pandemic is here and we’re living a reality we never imagined. We can joke now about being inconvenienced, and how to stay sane, but when we start losing loved ones, the joking will belong only to the untouched. There will be very few untouched. Most likely, we will all know someone who dies as a result of COVID-19. Then, our perspective will not be on finding toilet paper, but on staying alive.
I’m not afraid of dying, but I don’t want to die either. I don’t feel ready. I have things I want to do yet, things I want to accomplish that aren’t complete. Do you feel the same?
But, I bet some of you are afraid of dying, even if it’s hard to admit it. You aren’t sure what happens after death and you aren’t sure <if> there is a God, and if there is, what that means for you. I understand. These are questions I have asked too. So while we’re in an unprecedented time where death seems so much closer and more real and inevitable, let’s talk about it!
I want to offer you the hope I’ve found.
God cared enough for YOU to send a Savior to come and rescue you. What do you need rescued from? From your sin, and the punishment you deserve for a lifetime of sin. From walking around with guilt, stuck with addictions or problems you can’t fix.
Can I introduce you to my Jesus?
He’s my Savior, and he has changed my life. He freed me from my sin and the horrible guilt of all the wrong I’ve done. He gives me perfect acceptance and the ability to walk free. He’s in charge in my life, even though it’s a struggle because I like being in charge. I’ve committed to walking through life with Jesus, and it’s the one decision that changed everything for me. I’m never alone. Jesus walks with me and helps me. He also gives me rightness with God, so I can one day spend eternity with him.
If you aren’t sure what would happen if you would die, and you are looking for peace, I’d like to invite you to ask Jesus into your life. He is the hope and peace you are looking for! There’s no special prayer you need to pray. You just ask Jesus to be in your life. You tell Him you believe in him, you believe he’s God, and you need and want freedom and forgiveness. And he shows up, and changes you inside. It’s the start of a journey, a new way of living, with Jesus’ help.
I never had peace until I had Jesus in my life. He is my peace. He is my strength. He loves me like no one has ever loved me.
And if, heaven forbid, we would face death in this season, we wouldn’t be afraid or alone. He would be with us and help us. And you would have certainty that when you die here on earth, your life will continue with God forever.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son [Jesus], that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
